1947 – The war was over and a victorious nation was enthusiastically adjusting to its postwar pre-eminence.  Amid all the excitement, Jimmie Vonglis’ dream came true.  A chocolate institution was born. 

Word quickly spread and the chocolate Shoppe became a gathering place for chocolate lovers.  Jimmie, his wife Gussie (on the left) and their daughter Lillian would become legendary for their mouthwatering chocolate.

Late 1950’s – Jimmie’s commitment to the community matched his lover for the art of chocolate making.  After Jimmie’s passing the chocolate shop and it’s rich tradition and wholesome values, lived on.

Through the years JIMMIE’S CHOCOLATES remained a local gem.  Fond memories of chocolate treats would keep generations of chocolate lovers coming back, again and again. 

October 1997 – Two chocolate enthusiasts, and loyal patrons in their own boyhood, purchase JIMMIE’S CHOCOLATES. 

Partners Rodney Harrison and Ken Smith decided to bring JIMMIE’S CHOCOLATES style of homemade, gourmet chocolates to the masses.  Rodney, a renowned interior designer, and Ken, a corporate leader turned “chocolatier d’hotel”, have meticulously built upon the time honored foundation at JIMMIE’S.  The art of fine chocolate making and a commitment to the community remain unwavering components of the business to this day.

Fall 2003 – JIMMIE’S CHOCOLATES travels north to Pompano Beach

JiMMIE’S CHOCOLATES opens just north of Downtown Fort Lauderdale, in Pompano Beach, Florida.  This cozy community was the perfect choice for the expansion.  Like the original in Dania Beach, the Pompano Beach JIMMIE’S CHOCOLATES quickly became the place to catch up with folks and take a “sweet” break in the day.  Word quickly spread, and faithful guests in the area that traveled to Dania Beach for many years were elated to have their favorite chocolates available in their neighborhood.

2005 – JIMMIE’S CAFÉ is opened to rave reviews

A hidden gem makes the Dania Beach location a must visit.  Remaining a local’s favorite, the savvy traveler seems to stumble upon this gem in the sand as well.  A perfect compliment to the Original Chocolate Shoppe is JIMMIE’S CAFÉ.  Featuring Continental Cuisine thoughtfully prepared with a Latin Flair, JIMMIE’S CAFÉ is an experience like no other.  An eclectic wine list offering all still wines by the glass, and a dessert list of mouthwatering treats makes the Café a true indulgence.

2007 – www.jimmieschocolates.com is relaunched
